Irina N. Gornaya KALEVALA THEMES IN FINNISH CHAMBER-VOCAL MUSIC OF THE 20TH CENTURY |
Abstract: The article covers the analysis of the chamber-vocal works of the Finnish composers of the 20th century, which drew inspiration in the storylines and themes of the epic “Kalevala” and the lyrical collection “Kanteletar”. The musical embodiment of Kalevala stories and texts by Elias Lönnrot in the first half and in the last third of the 20th century has visible differences. The article examines the evolution of the musical language and of the genre status of the “Kalevala” works of the Finnish composers.

Abstract: The article is devoted to Russian lyrical songs of the Olonets Livvik Karelians. In the process of the comparative analysis of Karelian samples of Russian lyrical songs with their versions from the northern and central regions of Russia, the author reveals the originality of the creative interpretation of the borrowed Russian melody by the Karelians, and also defines the mechanisms of the transformation of the original “borrowed” song material into their “own”.

Abstract: The article introduces the results of the musical language analysis of the vocal cycle (1970) “Five Poems by Li Bo” (China, 701-761 / 762), created by the Russian composer from Buryatia Victor A. Usovich. The analysis of the expressive means of the musical work for the soprano was performed with regard to the peculiarities of the intonational and rhythmic structure of the Chinese language, including the specificity of the figurative symbolism of the "shi" style poetry, as well as the perception of the ethno-cultural mentality of China in the music of the Russian composer who had been an expert on Buddhism music

Abstract: The article covers the analysis of the creative work of the Udmurt scientist, educator, public figure Kuzebaj Gerd. The folklore collections, articles about folk music written by Gerd are considered in the context of the era, in which the Udmurt enlightener created. Study of Gerd’s scientific heritage has allowed drawing a conclusion on the role of the scientist as the founder of Udmurt ethnomusicology.
