Olga J. Zhukova SOUND EXPRESSIVENESS IN VEPSIAN FOLKLORE TEXTS |
Abstract: The article analyzes the functioning of such a phonological means of expressiveness as alliteration in the oral tradition of the Veps. The types of initial consonance that can be distinguished by the intensity and duration of the alliterative chain are illustrated by text examples from various genres, recorded from different local groups of the Veps. The language of folklore, striving to create such a stylistic technique, seems to most commonly use strong alliteration and unification of two adjacent words, which are often fixed as a traditional formula.
